The goal of the project is to grow Black/African American-owned businesses to earn 7.9% of business revenues in Seattle, which will match the 7.9% of Seattle’s population who are Black/African American. Addressing Racism as a Public Health Crisis
In July 2023, Cyber Capitol received a $100,000 grant from a $25 million total budget that was distributed by an iterative co-creation effort between King County and the community, known as the Gathering Collaborative. Cyber Capital is focusing on reducing the effects of the "Digital Divide" on the African American community, as 66% of African American households report having access to the internet as opposed to the 78% of White households. Over a six-month period of outreach and engagement, Cyber Capital, in partnership with SungLass Communications, contacted a number of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) groups to identify eligible Grant IT recipients and provide laptops, IT equipment, and technical assistance services. The organizations awarded include the People of Color Against AIDS Network, United Indians of All Tribes Foundation, Africatown, and Family First Community Center.

Cyber Capitol Rebrand + marketing support services
Cyber Capitol is a minority-owned technology company based out of Renton, Washington. They offer a wide range of IT solutions to small businesses, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. After being awarded a $100K King County grant to provide computers and IT services to BIPOC non-profit organizations and underserved communities in Washington, Cyber Capitol reconnected with SungLass to refresh their brand. The aim was to embrace the founder’s roots as a local small business giving back to disadvantaged individuals and organizations with IT and technical assistance.
Les Struthers, who identifies as Black and belonging to the Chippewa Tribe, has created a “by and for” company that aims to bridge the “digital divide” for Black and Indigenous communities and has expanded his commitment to serving communities of color with a goal to build a BIPOC Innovation Center.

DNA consulting Website
In addition to DNA’s company rebrand, SungLass reinvigorated the website, elevating their narratives around community outreach, engagement, and small businesses mentorship. The new website showcases the more than two decades of community advocacy and professional services of its founder and lead consultant. The growth in business development since the launch of the rebrand and expanded online presence has created more opportunities for DNA to support the communities they serve.
